Nvidia is likely to build next-gen graphics with TSMC's 3nm lithography

Nvidia's CEO personally traveled to Taiwan to discuss 3nm lithography with TSMC executives, people familiar with the matter claim.

Informed sources in Taiwan say Jinsun Hwang, the CEO of Nvidia, has personally visited the country to ensure the process of TSMC's 3nm lithography order for next-generation GPUs. In addition to negotiating with TSMC, Huang has also spoken with a number of Nvidia's business partners to get information about the amount of current generation graphics in stock in these companies' warehouses.

According to Wccftech, Dr Lisa Sue, CEO of AMD, also has a similar plan to meet with TSMC executives. Apparently, the main topic of AMD's CEO's negotiation with TSMC is supposed to be the initial order of 3-nanometer and 2-nanometer lithography and increasing the order of 5-nanometer and 4-nanometer lithography of the Taiwanese company.

Many companies want to produce chips through the production line of TSMC factories. TSMC's three-nanometer lithography will not enter mass production until next year; But apparently, the design stages of the second generation of this lithography are also coming to an end. Products equipped with 3nm chips may arrive in 2024.

When introducing the RTX 4000 graphics series, Nvidia said that it will offer the RTX 4080 model in two models with 12 or 16 GB of memory; But some time later it canceled the supply of the 12 GB model. It is said that Jenson Huang met with Nvidia's business partners to ensure that these companies support the cancellation of the RTX 4080 12GB.
